This Week in Troop 508

Sign-up to be a part of the Troop Honor Guard
Help add reverence, dignity, and patriotism to area events by performing flag ceremonies. Interested scouts please contact Mr. Art Miller

The troop is helping Irving North Christian Church run their Trunk or Treat 10/29 from 5-7pm; Come on out and have fun helping!

Cub Scout Funday: 11/5 @ Camp Wisdom 9:00 am to noon
The troop will be running an event and any help would be appreciated
Family Camping: 11/4 – the troop has been asked to camp with Pack 510 the Friday night before the Funday. So come on out with your family and help these Cub Scouts learn about camping. Contact Mr Whitgrove with any questions

Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) 11/6 @ Running Bear Park 2-5pm
The purpose of this course is to teach scouts with leadership positions about their new roles and how to most effectively reach success in that role.
All scouts with a leadership position should plan to attend.

Camporee 11/11-13 @ Camp Constantin: Ancient Warrior themed competition
Cost: early bird (register by 11/15) $15 scouts, $5 scouters; late $20 scouts, $10 scouters Sign-up at the next troop meeting

Winter Camp 12/27-31 @ Trevor-Rees Jones Scout Camp, Cost $85 MB registration opens Nov 1; sign-up at the next troop meeting

The troop has voted! Summer Camp 2017 is at Camp Alexander in Colorado 7/9 – 7/15 Sign-up at the next troop meeting

There will be more than 7 contact stations, including; HF,UHF, VHF stations, a satellite radio station, a repeater, basic electronics demonstrations, a Morse code station, an internet radio station, fox hunts, and much more!

Beach Campout – Meet at Woodhaven Sat 10/8 @ 5:30am to leave by 6:00am, back Mon 10/10 about 6:00pm; bring frisbees, football, or anything else to play with on the beach
Sea Rim State Park; Cost $50 per person covers food, camp fee, and fuel

Popcorn Time! – Scouts can fundraise to pay for long term camps and high adventure trips by selling popcorn!  Let’s encourage all our scouts to participate.  Important dates:

10/2 – Blitz day meet at Woodhaven at 1:00-3:00pm (prize for most sales!)

10/11 – Last day to turn in orders

11/5 – Popcorn pick up TBD

11/14 – Last day to turn in money
