Troop 508 Newsletter 2/22/2017

This Week in Troop 508

 

News

Please bring a water bottle to meetings.  We should not be using the church’s cups.

 

Scoutmaster Mr. Bolton will be at Woodhaven from 6:30 to 7:00 before each meeting to sign books, have conferences, etc.

 

Trampoline and Pizza Day – 2/25 3:00pm @ Urban Air Trampoline Park 110 W Sandy Lake Rd.

Followed by pizza 5:30 @ Cicis 120 S Denton Tap Rd, both are in Coppell

Cost $19.99 2.5hrs at Urban Air, Pizza $5.99/adult $4.50/child 10 & under plus drink

Meet at Urban Air at 3:00, pay at the door or purchase your tickets and sign waiver online

Adults and siblings are welcome!  See you there!

A Scout is Thrifty…  Camp Card time!  Pay your way to summer camp by selling camp cards.

Each card is $10, $5 goes directly into your scout account; sell 66 cards to pay for camp minus transportation; Pick-up cards at the next troop meeting

You are entered into a drawing for every 25 cards you sell (let Mrs. Roman or Mrs. Whitgrove know when you have sold 25 cards)

Service opportunity – Sowers Cemetery Cleanup 3/4 8:00am-4:00pm

Troop Court of Honor – 3/7 troop meeting @ 7pm.  Our twice a year event to formally recognize Scouts’ achievements.  Scouts’ family members are invited to share in this event.  Scouts should be in full uniform including merit badge sash, etc…

 

Robert’s Eagle Ceremony – 3/11 6:30pm @ National Scouting Museum

The troop is invited to be a part of Robert receiving his Eagle Scout Rank

 

Irving Lake Association Clean-up 4/22 8am-noon @ Lake Vilbig

Earn conservation service hours.  Let’s have 100% participation!

 

Summer Camp 2017 Camp Alexander Lake George, Colorado 7/9 – 7/15

Cost: Scout $330, Adult $265 + transportation to be determined later

1st payment $110 due 1/30, 2nd payment $100 due 3/27, remaining amt due 5/2

Scouting for Food – the troop collected 800-850lbs of food!  Great job and thank you to everyone who participated!

OA Elections – 2/7 at the beginning of the Troop Meeting

All scouts need to make this meeting.  The election is important so please make every effort to be there.

 

Troop Cook-off – 2/14 *Moved back 1 week due to OA elections ; during the Troop Meeting – breakfast for dinner; 1 dish per patrol or small group; using camp methods

The planning for this will be after the OA Elections on 2/7

 

Scout Sunday – 2/5 A Scout is Reverent… Meet out front of Woodhaven at 10am in full uniform.  The troop will sit together and participate in the service.  Let’s show Woodhaven how much we appreciate them

 

Scouting for Food – 2/11 A Scout is Helpful… Wonderful opportunity to give back to our community.  Meet at Woodhaven at 9:00am in uniform
