News

Popcorn Time! – Scouts can fundraise to pay for campouts, summer camp, winter camp, etc. by selling popcorn!

Scouts receive 32% of his sales into his Scout account.

Everyone is encouraged to set up an online account at www.trails-end.com. You can attach it to all your social media and send out emails to friends and relatives. This is great for anyone who wants to pay with a credit card. There are prizes just for online sales and all totals go towards all prizes.

10/30 – Order forms and prize choices are due to Kathy

12/1 – Popcorn Pick Up

12/11 – All money due

The God and Church class will attend a field trip to Potters House August 26th for Sunday service. We will meet in uniform no later than 8:45AM. This will allow us to observe a new denomination. 6777 W. Kiest Blvd. Dallas TX 75236

Bring a board game/card game to play

Meet at Camp Wisdom Friday 7pm  Pickup from Camp Wisdom Sunday 10am

Crew 508 Shooting Event – 8/19 Camp Wisdom this Sunday morning starting at 10 am.

Meet us at the Rifle and Shotgun ranges or call 214-632-0662 from the parking lot and we can guide you down to the ranges.

Wear comfortable clothes with tennis shoes or hiking boots.

Bring a water bottle, we will have water and snacks.
Venturing is an inclusive program through the BSA for males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade) emphasizing four main areas known as the A-L-P-S model:  Adventure – Mentoring, leading, and participating in crew-led adventures; Leadership – Ongoing leadership development through training, mentoring, and hands-on leadership; Personal Growth – Goal-setting in support of personal growth; Service – Leading and participating in community service.  For more info  www.venturing.org

Mr. James Sweat passed away August 8. He was a long-time member of Troop 508 and both his sons James Jr. and Sam are Eagle Scouts.  Mr. Sweat was a pioneer in Scouting, especially in working with the African-American community. In fact, his son James Jr. was the first African-American Eagle Scout from Irving.  Mr. Sweat was a fixture at the Cub Scout Day Camp supervising the arts and crafts activities for many years.  Mr. Sweat was very active in the Order of the Arrow. He founded and built the OA Indian Village at camp Trevor Reese Jones and staffed it many years for Winter Camp.

Mrs. Sweat has requested that Scouts in uniform participate in his funeral with a flag ceremony. This is a time for all Scouts to honor one of our own if you knew Mr. Sweat or not. Please make every effort to attend in uniform and offer service to his family. Funeral details below:

Bring a headlamp or flashlight.  We will be hiking the Duck Pond Trail (2 miles).  We will meet at the trailhead and start the hike at sundown and hike in the dark.

This Saturday 7/28 5:00pm @ Woodhaven

Please be in full field uniform(class A) including sash, neckerchief, socks, etc.

 

 

Luke’s Eagle Project (Build Day) – Saturday 7/28  9:00am – noon

@ Camp Wisdom Daffron Pavilion, the pavilion by the parking lot

Bring a water bottle, sunscreen, work gloves

Lunch will be provided; Earn conservation service hours

 

Luke’s Eagle Project (Deploy Day) – Saturday 8/4 9:00am – 1:00pm spread across both parks

Towne Lake and Northwest Park in Irving – we will start at one park and end at the other (the order will be decided the week before)
