This Week in Troop 508

 

News

 

Alaska Prep Hike – July 14 8:00AM at Cedar Ridge Preserve 7171 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75249. (time correction from last week’s newsletter)

This is a 3 mile hike over challenging terrain.  This is scheduled early in the morning before it gets too hot.  Donations are recommended

A Scout is Reverent…

Religious Emblems Programs – God and Church grade 6-8  / God and Life grade 9-12

Classes will begin during the summer months

Contact: Mr. Fletcher

 

 

Caving Campout – 7/20-22 Camping on the San Marcos River, a day trip to Natural Bridge Caverns, and Natural Bridge Ropes Course

Depart from Woodhaven Friday 6pm (Please arrive by 5:30 so we can depart by 6:00)

Arrive back to Woodhaven Sunday about 6pm

A Scout is Courteous…  Keep up the good work scouts!  The church is appreciative!  Please bring a water bottle to meetings.  Woodhaven has asked us not to use their cups.  We need to be respectful of the church as a whole, this includes the kitchen area and the ice maker.

Limited to first 10 scouts age 12 or over; bring sack lunch & water, MB book, MB worksheet, Blue card

 

LLELA Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area: Registration is required by 11am the Friday before the class; go to their website for more information on registering

(November 12) – Nature

 

 

Medieval Times:  $31.95 per person for exclusive scout show and MB workshop; to register

(Sept. 22) Animal Science

 

Great American Trucking Show: Free and lunch is provided, space is limited; to register

(Aug 25) Traffic Safety, Truck Transportation

Scouts are needed to hand out flags at an Honor America event at FUMC Irving – this Sunday 7/1 6:00PM – 6:30PM @ 211 W 3rd St Irving 75060

All are welcome to stay for the program after but it is not required

Wear full field uniform (class A) including neckerchiefs and merit badge sashes

Fundraiser for Luke’s Eagle Scout Project – this Sunday 6/24 7:30am-10:30am @ First United Methodist Church 211 W 3rd St Irving 75060

Luke is having a pancake breakfast fundraiser to fund his upcoming Eagle Project

He is asking for a few scouts to come out and help cook and serve.  Wear field uniform(class A)

Earn service hours.  Contact Luke with any questions 214-289-2582

Crater of Diamonds Campout 6/1-3 – Cost $33/person

Departure Friday 6pm from Woodhaven, Arrive back at Woodhaven Sunday about 4pm

Bring some tools to help in your diamond search like a hand shovel & bucket or they have some you can rent. Their rental fees can be found here

 

 

Summer Camp 2018 is at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch June 10 – 16

Cost is $265 per scout plus merit badges and $12/person for travel

Adults are $150 plus $12/person for travel

*Pre-participation physical is required for everyone attending – link to the Required Form*

 

 

Day Camp 6/18-22  – Junior helpers needed
