News

Woodhaven Trunk or Treat – Logistics about the same, set-up wise, but each trunk will hand out its own candy this year. Our Scouts stand ready to assist us with car management and candy refills, and will either have a trunk or lawn display (or both). Hallie is organizing something to give out with WPC info for families.

• A reasonable set-up time is 3pm…we start at 4pm; Hancock Hall will be open for your bathroom needs
• Spaces are not assigned, but please put your vehicle in South Lotwith headlights pointed at Hancock Hall
• Start parking at the end closest to the Sanctuary, and as we arrive will work back towards the lot entrance by Ed Bldg
• All our cars will be on the side closest to the lawn, in one lineup for easy viewing by visitors
• We have collected candy, so you do not need to buy any (unless you want your favorites!)
• Advertising has gone out to closest elementary schools, and is on our social media / street sign

 

Cub Scout Hike @ Fort Worth Nature Center 6 miles – 11/13 10am to 2pm

Come out and lead local Cub Scouts on a hike!

Meet at the Hardwicke Interpretive Center, fee to enter is $6 Adults (13-64), $2 Children (3-12, under 3 FREE)

Bring a backpack with a sack lunch, we will be stopping at the midway point for lunch.

Shooting Campout – at TRJ on November 19-21

 

 

Winter Camp – It is that time of year to get signed up for Winter Camp at Treavor Reese Jones. The dates for this year’s camp are Monday 12/27-Friday 12/31. The cost is $100 plus the cost of merit badges. Please email Mrs. Cleveland  to sign up. She will be sending out merit badge sign up information as soon as it comes out to those that have signed up.
We need at least 2 adult volunteers to attend as well for our troop to be able to camp.

Colby’s Eagle project work day is Sunday  9/26 at 1pm until we are done.

The address of the project is 315 W 3rd St, Irving, TX 75060 we will meet in the parking lot next to the building. There will be snacks

 

 

USS Lexington in Corpus trip – We are required to pay for the full amount at the time of registration because we are so close to the event date. The trip is planned to leave Irving Friday 10/8 and travel to a state park then on to the Lexington on Saturday 10/9 to spend the night on the ship then return home Sunday 10/10. The cost of the Lexington is $75/per person. There will be additional cost for a portion of state park fees and dinner Friday night. The total cost is still being determined but will be minimal in addition to the $75. Since we have to pay the $75 to the USS Lexington when we make the reservation we need an exact headcount and deposit paid by this Tuesday 9/21/21 at the Court of Honor. Mark Nichols will be taking payment.

Let me know if you have any questions, we apologize for the last minute nature of the information but gaging interest in events these days is difficult and we don’t want to pay for events if not enough scouts are attending.

Cub Scout Hike this Saturday 9/18 – 10am We will be leading some local cub scouts on a 3mile hike. River Legacy Park 3020 N FM 157 Euless, TX

There are many entrances to this park, use the park entrance located at

3020 N FM 157 (North Collins St), Euless, TX 76040

We will meet at the hiking trail located at

32°47’19.6″N 97°06’00.5″W. (if you copy and paste those coordinated into a google search the exact location will show up).  Bring water & a snack; Contact: Mr. Bolton 214-335-7327

Outdoor Court of Honor – next Tuesday  Sept 21 outside Woodhaven @ 7pm;        Bring your own camp chair, bring your own food. Bring the family!                          Please try to be in full uniform with scout pants, socks, mb sashes, neckerchiefs and any awards. If you have it, wear it!

November, Mr. Murphy wants to have a shooting weekend. The only available camp that has all three shooting elements is at TRJ on November 19-21. If this is something that the troop is interested in, we need to secure this ASAP and I will work on getting some trained individuals to help run these ranges. We do have to pay for ammo and the ranges, so the cost will go up but it will be lots of fun.

Mr. Murphy went online and checked out our Council camps to see availability and the only weekend that is open is September 10-12 and Constantin, James Ray and TRJ are all open that weekend, we just need to choose one. There is a survey for our Scouts to choose, see below. That weekend is also the OA Fall Fellowship, so not everyone will be able to go on the troop campout, which is ok. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/P9R75TR

October, we have planned that we were going to do our Beach campout. If this is something the troop is still interested in, we need to start making plans asap.
